Oasis University (OU) core values are foundational beliefs that guide the operation of our institution. Our core values influence the activities of the institution and the conduct of faculty, staff, and student.

 

Biblical Authority: Oasis University (OU) seeks to operate as an institution under functional authority of the inerrant Word of God. OU is committed to obeying its commands and applying its principles (2 Timothy 3:16).

Integrity: Oasis University (OU) seeks to live, teach, and entreat lives that are not conformed to this world (Romans 12:2). Emphasis is placed on Christian growth and maturity that models after the life of Christ. OU acknowledges the obligation of every Christian to live under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

 

Global Missions: Oasis University (OU) is committed to implementing Christ’s mandate to reach the worldwide harvest by teaching and training students in evangelism, church planting, and cross cultural ministry (Matthew 9:37, 38).

Academic Excellence: Oasis University (OU) is committed to providing qualified Christian education and academic programs that challenge and enable every student to fulfill their God-given destiny.

 

Christ-Centered Relationships: Oasis University (OU) is committed to building a body of students that places Christ at the center of all relationships in order to promote strong churches, families, and communities.

 

Dedicated Servanthood: Oasis University (OU) is dedicated to training Christian leaders who understand the importance of prayer, holy living, worship, giving, and effective ministry. OU further seeks to cultivate an understanding that without the Holy Spirit, true ministry will not take place in the student, community, or church.

 

 

DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

 

Oasis University (OU) holds to the broad non-negotiable tenets of faith stated by the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE):

 

WE BELIEVE… The Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. II Timothy 3:16, 17

 

WE BELIEVE...There is only One True God–revealed in three persons...Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (commonly known as the Trinity). II Corinthians 13:14

 

WE BELIEVE...In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present priestly ministry, and in His personal return in power and glory. I Timothy 3:16; Romans 3:25, 26

 

WE BELIEVE...In evangelistic and missionary fervor and endeavor. Acts 1:8; Mark 16:15-18

 

WE BELIEVE… That for the salvation of lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential. Hebrews 9:22; Jude 24, 25.

 

WE BELIEVE...In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. Ephesians 5:25-27

 

WE BELIEVE...That sexual purity is a necessary expression for all God’s children and requires abstinence from adultery, fornication, incest, homosexuality or other sexual relationships, or practices forbidden by Scripture. Hebrews 13:4; I Corinthians 6:18; Leviticus 18:1-30

 

WE BELIEVE...That communion, when shared by believers, witnesses to the saving power of the Gospel, to Christ’s presence in His Church, and looks forward to His victorious return. I Corinthians 11:23-26

 

WE BELIEVE... In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. John 5:28, 29; Revelation 20:15

 

WE BELIEVE...In the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. John 17:11, 21-23

 

 

 

 

HONOR SYSTEM

 

Academic life at Oasis University (OU) operates under an honor code based on individual integrity. Each student is required to sign an "Honor Pledge" upon enrolling in the college, which prohibits the giving or receiving of assistance under specified scholastic situations and requires the reporting of any infractions.

 

 

ACADEMIC FREEDOM

 

Oasis University (OU) recognizes that the establishment of institutions of higher education is for the common good. OU also recognizes that the common good can never be realized unless opportunities exist for freedom of teaching, research, and services among all institutions of higher education as well as within individuals' institutions.

Academic freedom at OU is framed by the context of our Mission Statement and Doctrinal Statement, and is consistent with the standards and norms stated in the academic freedom policy. The faculty members are free to pursue truth within his or her discipline by research, discussion, and other forms of inquiry. This freedom carries a responsibility to truth, to scholarly integrity, and to one's students.

 

 

STATEMENT OF NON-DISCRIMINATION

 

Oasis University (OU) does not discriminate against race and national origin in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. OU does not discriminate against age according to the Age Discrimination Act of 1975. OU does not discriminate against sex in accordance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Furthermore, OU will not discriminate against disability or religion. However, as a Christian educational institution, OU requires all students to study Christianity and attend worship services regardless of their religion.

 

 

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

 

Oasis University (OU) welcomes deeply dedicated Christians regardless of age, sex, race, or national origin. However, OU reserves the right to restrict or deny admission to any applicant for reasons determined to be in the best interest of the school by the officers thereof. This reserved right will be administered in a manner consistent with state and federal non-discrimination laws.

As the following criterion indicates, OU practices a comprehensive approach in admission policy. The admissions committee in determining each applicant’s admission to OU will consider all criteria.

 

 

APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION

 

Submitting the application form and application fee is the first step to enrolling at Oasis University (OU). Download the application or complete it on line. The application can also be requested by email.

Once all information is received, the applicant’s file will go before the admissions committee for approval. The Office of Admissions will inform the applicant of the admission committee’s action. If an applicant fails to register for classes within one year of approval, he/she will be required to reapply and submit updated information.

 

 

ACADEMIC INFORMATION

 

Oasis University (OU) is primarily a non-resident university designed to serve full-time Christian workers and others who are unavailable during the day. Therefore, OU offers most of its curriculum during morning and evening hours, weekends, distance and virtual education. Certificates and degrees are earned primarily through the evening programs. The regular academic year programs at OU are comprised of two semesters, 16 weeks each.

 

 

Degrees Offered

 

1. One year certificate - 33 credit hours

 

2. Three year Diploma with Christian Ministry Emphasis – 90 credit hours

 

3. Three year Diploma in Bible & Missions - 90 credit hours

 

4. Four year Bachelor of Art in Christian Ministry / Bachelor in Bible and Theology - 120 credit hours

 

5. Masters of Arts in Applied Ministry - 36 credit hours

 

6. Masters of Arts in Divinity - 93 credit hours

 

7. Doctorate in Ministry / Doctorate in Leadership - 60 credit hours

 

 

 

Definitions of Terms Used in Describing the Academic Program

 

Credit Hour -- All scholastic work is measured according to the semester credit hour. This is the equivalent of one class of 180 minutes per week (plus preparation) or two laboratory hours per week (plus preparation) for 16 weeks.

 

Curriculum -- The pattern of courses leading to a specific educational objective. These are required sequential offerings, which meet an educational objective.

 

Electives – Voluntarily chosen courses that allow a student to contribute to a balanced program of education within his or her chosen curriculum or area of emphasis. Prerequisite -- A course that must be completed prior to admission into another course.

 

Student Classification -- Division of students into classes based on the number of credit hours completed.

 

 

 

GRADING SYSTEM

 

Grades and Quality Points are distributed at the end of each semester. If a student has an outstanding balance with the Finance Office, they will not receive their grades until the balance is paid in full. Grades are as follows:

To calculate the grade point average (GPA), multiply the semester hours for each class by the quality point equivalent for the grade earned for that class. Then divide the sum of these quality points by the number of semester hours attempted.

 

 

TRANSFER OF CREDITS TO OASIS UNIVERSITY (OU)

 

Oasis University (OU) accepts transfer credits in accordance with the policies below:

 

1. Courses taken at a regionally accredited college or university or at an institution accredited by the Association of Biblical Higher Education.

 

2. Only courses in which students earn a grade of C or higher are transferable to OU. Courses taken pass/fail, credit/no credit, satisfactory/unsatisfactory do not transfer unless the official transcript from the accredited school indicates that a pass/fail, credit/no credit, satisfactory/unsatisfactory are equivalent to a grade of C or higher. Audited courses are not accepted for transfer to OU.

 

3. Official transcripts for all courses completed outside of the United States must be evaluated (and translated, if needed) by an approved evaluation agency or U.S. college or university. Examples of evaluation agencies include, but are not limited to, World Evaluation Services, AACRAO International Education Services, and Educational Credential Evaluators Inc.

 

4. Grades earned in transfer courses are not included in calculating the cumulative GPA or the GPA for the major at OU.

 

5. Official transcripts from the university or institution offering the transfer course are required.

 

6. The Office of the Registrar Consults Departments and the General Education Committee will determine which Oasis requirements may be fulfilled by transfer courses. Final decisions are made by the Academic office.

 

 

CREDIT BY EXAMINATION

 

Within the structures outlined below, Oasis University (OU) awards advanced placement in recognition of learning that has been achieved apart from a college classroom situation. A maximum of 30 credits in advanced placement can be applied toward an undergraduate degree program.

 

1. Credit may be awarded to a student who receives a qualifying score on an Advanced Placement Examination.

 

2. Exemption from certain first-level courses may be granted based on an adequate score on special placement examinations devised by the respective departments.

 

 

REFUND POLICIES

 

Drop/Add Refund Policy: Students who drop courses prior to the beginning of classes or during the drop/add period of any semester will receive a full refund of tuition and fees. No refunds will be granted for drops after the end of the drop/add period. Drop/add begins the first day of the semester and extends for seven calendar days, not class days.

Regular Withdrawal Refund Policy: Students who officially withdraw from school during a semester will receive a tuition refund according to the following schedule.

Notes

1. Withdrawal refunds are granted only to students who officially withdraw. Withdrawal begins by contacting the Registry Office.

 

2. All refunds must be requested in writing to the Business Office.

 

3. Refund processing will take approximately two weeks.
